SHERIDAN ROAD CHARITABLE FOUNDATION BRINGS EXPERIENTIAL FUN TO THE CITY WHILE CELEBRATING GREAT CAUSES

CHICAGO, July 19, 2016 — In some of the most entertaining fundraising events of the summer, the Sheridan Road Charitable Foundation raised approximately $200,000 for local Chicago charities that help improve the education of children in Chicago.

Combining fun, enriching, and experiential events with fundraising efforts has proven successful for the Sheridan Road Charitable Foundation. Songwriters in the Round, held in May, brought Grammy award-winning country music songwriters Chris DeStefano, Ashley Gorley, and Kelley Lovelace to the Chicago landmark Joe’s Bar On Weed. Attendees enjoyed a night of barbecue and dancing with the opportunity to bid on auctions items such as destination get away to Napa Valley, Louisville, Naples, and Nashville, along with sports memorabilia and tickets to some of the hottest events of the season. A lively after-party was held at the spectacular opening night of the LondonHouse Hotel on their tri-level rooftop.

The annual Truck It 5K/10K, held in July during the Taste of Chicago, had participants run and walk on the picturesque Lake Michigan lakefront that finished at the historic Soldier Field. The after-party, held outside Soldier Field, featured upbeat tunes, complimentary Goose Island beer, and local well-known food trucks such as Bombay Wraps, Cajun Connoisseur, El Patron, and Cupcakes for Courage. Runners hailed from all over the country to snag the “best race pull-over of the season!”

“We are so proud of all of our sponsors, collaborators, volunteers and guests who made these two events spectacularly successful and who put our beneficiaries front and center in our commitment to make a difference in our public schools and under-resourced communities. We set fundraising records for both of these events, and I know we all look forward to both of these events next year,” said Daniel Bryant, founder and president of the Sheridan Road Charitable Foundation.

The Foundation takes an integrated approach to fundraising through efforts to promote the musical arts and fitness while also raising money for local charities who work to improve education for children in Chicago. From mentorship programs through By The Hand and Communities in Schools, to organizations like Bernie’s Book Bank, which works to increase children’s access to books, and Reading in Motion, which works to supplement education through engaging reading programs, the Sheridan Road Charitable Foundation looks to support real and effective solutions for Chicago’s most pressing problems.
